User adoption: One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that attendees actually download and use the app. Many attendees may resist adopting new technology or be unaware that the app exists.
User experience: Another challenge is ensuring that the app provides a seamless and intuitive user experience. The app should be easy to navigate, with clear and concise instructions for each feature
● Attendees needed access to personalized schedules, event details, and real-time updates.
● The app had to be easy to use for attendees of all technical levels.
Data security and privacy : Collecting and storing personal information from attendees, such as their name, email address, and registration details, requires careful attention to data security and privacy laws.
Updating and maintaining the app: Keeping the app up-to-date and addressing technical issues requires ongoing maintenance and updates.
To meet these challenges, we developed an event app with the following features:
● Customized branding and event information to increase user adoption by promoting the app in advance, offering incentives for attendees to download and use the app, and providing clear instructions on how to use it.
● Improve the user experience, event organizers can gather feedback from attendees and make changes to the app based on their suggestions.
● Personalized schedules based on attendee preferences, with the ability to add and remove sessions to their bookmarks.
● Interactive maps to help attendees navigate event venues.
● Push notifications for real-time updates and announcements.
● User-friendly interface with intuitive navigation.
● We made some observations during the event for the old app, observing event attendees as they use the app to register, check-in, attend sessions, and network to identify usability issues, areas of confusion, and points of frustration. We conducted one-on-one interviews with event attendees to understand their experiences with the app, what features they found helpful or challenging, and what suggestions they have for improving the app.
Also monitored online reviews and feedback about the app from event attendees to identify common issues and themes.
Findings:
● In the old app users can't find their QR code tickets easily, so they should go to their profile and find the ticket.
● Number of downloads 27,432. and Number of removing the app: 7,130
● The most used screens: registration, profile, login They don’t use agenda or sessions or any other page, so we need to improve some features.
● If there’s no internet it should have a message indicating ( many people got an error message “internal error” and thought it was a problem in the app so we need to send notifications.
● Profile icon needs to be founded on all pages not only the home to be easy for users to access.
● Sponsors needed to increase their section and map highlights.
● We can push notifications on live sessions to inform the user to join.
● We can add instructions and helping messages on splash or either by notifications.
● New design regarding to the user' feedback and observations.
